Good News Wednesday, December 27, 2017, 14:31 - The largest wildfire in California history was not expected to spread on Sunday with light winds forecast, officials said.
The Thomas Fire that began northwest of Los Angeles on Dec. 4 has burned 281,620 acres (113,968 hectares), the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) said Wednesday, bigger than the size of New York City. The latest figure up by about 8,000 acres since Christmas Eve.
The fire was 89 percent contained as of Wednesday and officials did not expect it grow any longer.
I've heard such sad stories of people who've been affected by the wildfires, I've been meaning to ask you Will, do you know if you are safe from these fires, or if you might have to evacuate?
(I watch old Lassie shows where they used actual footage from wildfires, and Lassie would help Ranger Corey Stuart rescue animals & people. I wish she could help with these fires... )
