The fly mushroom (Amanita muscaria) is a poisonous fungus from the genus of Wulstlinge (Amanita), including the particularly toxic Amanita phalloides Green (Amanita phalloides) belongs. The fly agaric is less toxic, but not harmless.

Der rote Fliegenpilz tritt in Mitteleuropa von Juni bis zum Winter auf, mit einer Haupterscheinungszeit von Juli bis Oktober. Es gibt von ihm mehrere anerkannte Varietäten (Varianten). Der Fliegenpilz im eigentlichen Sinn ist die Varietät Amanita muscaria var. muscaria.
