The Mummelsee - The legendary mountain lake in the Black Forest High Road The legendary Mummelsee is a cauldron-shaped lake, which is situated directly on the Black Forest High Road (B500). It is 3.7 acres in size, 17 meters deep and is located at 1,036 meters altitude. He is hemmed on all sides by wooded hillsides and has a circumference of about 800 meters. To the west the lake rises to the "cat's head" (1,123 meters) and walk north to Hornisgrinde, the highest mountain with 1,164 meters in the northern Black Forest. The lake is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Baden-Wuerttemberg. An old legend says that in the past have lived in Mummelsee magical mermaids and a stern king. Today the Mummelsee is primarily a popular destination for tourists in the summer for a round on a pedal boat, ice skating in winter and every season for a walk around the lake and have a coffee with a piece of black forest cake on the terrace of the adjacent Mountain hotels in Black Forest style.
