The monastery was built between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, and is one of the oldest of six remaining Eastern Orthodox monasteries built atop and along the cliffs of Meteora.

One of the most beautiful pictures!!! Meteora is located near the town of Kalambaka in Greece. I have been to the place. It is said that there was a lake many years ago but due to earthquakes it is disappeared that's why these rocks have this formation.

Emma is right. They used baskets to hoist up products or themselves.
