These lakes were once a limestone mine. They consist of 9 seprate lakes. There apart of the Weeki-Wactee River Preserve, witch consists of 900 acres of untouched beauty. Everything from wetlands, marches, saltwater waterways, freash water lakes, & a freash water spring river. Dotted with dense forest bursting with life such as black bears, deer, endangered birds & wildlife. The serenty & peacefulness one recives the moment they step foot upon this land is amazing! It's not known by many, so you have more of a chance comming in contact with snakes & racoons then with humans. The color of the water is so blue & breathtaking, it's really a site to see. This is one of my most favorite places of Florida to spend my time at. From picnic's, to fishing, canoeing, or simply taking peaceful hike. If you want to become one with nature, this is diffently the place to go!
