Hi everyone! We're hard at work trying to keep our community clean, so if you see any spam, please report it here and we'll review ASAP! Thanks a million!
This is a marshland that I pass every time on my way to my limestone lake, that I love so very much! The entire trip there is dotted with marshes like this one. I decided to stop for a few pictures to share the beauty of the land with all of my DN friends!
Brackish water is a result from the mixing of seawater & freshwater. It's a mucky brown color, that's by far the last place you'd want to swim in. However, marches are a critically imporaint wildlife habitat, serving as breeding grounds for a wide variety of animal life. Although the brackish water's not appealing to the eye, the beauty of the marchlands all around it are. Covered with palmtrees, & tons of sawgrass, the view streches on for miles. If your lucky, you might see an American Alligator taking in the sunrays.
But the coolest thing yet is, decomposition of plant materials below the brackish water often produces marsh gas, which may begin to burn by self-ignition making mysterious lights known locally as will o' wisps, Jack~o'~lanterns, or sprites. All in all, it's a neat sight to take in~as I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to do so!
