Lancaster (called the Red Rose City) is a city in the south of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania and County Seat of Lancaster County. From the big cities of Philadelphia, Baltimore, Harrisburg and Washington DC she is 55 to 140 kilometers away.

1709 settled in the area the first settlers settled. 1749 James Hamilton bought the land and began the construction of the city, which he already had planned from 1730. Lancaster was named by English immigrants John Wright after his home town in Britain.

I grew up in nearby Chester County. For U.S. viewers, the distance would be about 33 to 84 miles. I admire these good people for not conforming to modern society, in many ways lucky.
