Wallpaper Description:
Plumeria - common name Frangipani.

The common name "Frangipani" comes from an Italian noble family, a sixteenth-century Marquess of which invented a plumeria-scented perfume.

Plumeria flowers are most fragrant at night in order to lure Sphinx Moths to pollinate them. The flowers have no nectar, and simply dupe their pollinators.

Frangipani are now common naturalised plants in southern and south eastern Asia and are associated with temples in both Hindu and Buddhist cultures.

In local folklore and beliefs, Frangipani trees are thought to provide shelter to ghosts and demons.

In Hawaii, it's always been a beautiful tree with it's lovely scent. A native from the island of Oahu, I grew up with plumeria trees, it provided shelter for the islanders, to play, have a picnic, etc. The colors from a deep pink, light pink, to yellow, to white as pictured here, were strung into leis to adorn the neck of tourists and islanders alike. Thank you for sharing this photo.
