This plant looked so interesting that I couldn't resist uploading it with my goldenrod photos. (You can see some of the goldenrod in the background.) My daughter in law told me that this was a Cup Plant, and that a few weeks ago, the 7 seed heads had yellow flowers on them.
Maybe I will catch them in bloom next year, but I'm not worried about it. The seed heads are fun to look at, just the way they are.

PS. This is the only photo of the five that has no insects in it. (Or at least none that I know of!)
